Founded on january 24, 2001, the French Society of Maritime Medicine (SFMM) has three objects :

to promote hygiene and health in the maritime sphere.

to promote and develop medical knowledge on the maritime sphere, and the teaching of maritime medicine.

to develop relations with the others maritime medicine associations throughout the world.
